About the Podcast

Meet the Fluxers is a podcast developed by volunteer members of the FLUXNET Outreach Working Group bridging the gap between eddy covariance flux scientists and people whose work or lives are influenced by ecosystem fluxes - the exchanges of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and energy between the land surface and atmosphere. Our audience and participants are all fluxers: researchers, stakeholders, and curious minds interested in flux science and its diverse applications.

We aim to collaborate on telling the stories and insights of all fluxers in- and outside of academia and explore the full breadth, depth and diversity of flux science in natural and managed ecosystems around the globe. We are approaching our podcast as a co-learning experience for hosts, participants and all listeners. Our ambition with this project is to inspire and promote actionable science in FLUXNET – highlighting how stakeholders are engaging with flux science for real world applications; educating listeners on how this work is communicated and conceptualized; and building non-technical working language around these topics. As such we aim to learn from and create novel opportunities for use-inspired and impactful flux science.

Meet the Fluxers embraces a variety of perspectives from listeners and guests and is uniquely defined by its passionate co-hosts, FLUXNET researchers, and communities leveraging flux science for societal benefits. Not only does this encourage more widespread involvement from the flux community, but also, it guides listeners towards an unbiased understanding of flux science as it pertains to the real world. We are especially eager to connect with resource managers; community leaders; policymakers and funding agencies; early career researchers; and people from diverse political and social backgrounds.

Listen to and spread the word about Meet the Fluxers and please reach out on our contact page to connect or propose a story as a guest.
